Huerfano County Office of Emergency Management strongly advises everyone

who may be impacted by flooding to sign up for Pre-Evacuation Registration every Friday in March.

PUBLIC SANDBAG TRAINING COURSE

Saturday, April 6, at 10:00 AM.

United States Army Corps of Engineers will be conducting a local sandbag training course.The training will be held at the west end John Mall High School athletic field in Walsenburg.


Those attending should bring their own shovels (rounded is best), gloves, wear boots and long pants, and be prepared for possible cool or wet weather.

The training should last about 2&1/2 hours.


Filling sandbags is hard work, and requires kneeling, bending, and lifting bags weighting 50 to 70 pounds.


Those attending will be able to get free sandbags and fill material, for building their own protection structures.

Individuals will need to provide their own transportation for the materials &/or filled bags.
